EAGLESCLIFFE ELEMENTIS v MOUNT PLEASANT A

The under 15s playing at home for the first time this year nearly produced the upset of the round against an organized second div side and were only 3 mins away from taking them to extra time. The first 15 mins were end to end when Josh Larkin racing on to a through ball just failed to go round the keeper. At the other end Luke Miller made the save of the match pushing over a close range shot. Then 2 mins later rushing off his line on a one to one saving at the forwards feet. Then a Jack Bradburn  shot rebounding off the goalkeepers legs. With 5 mins to go until half time Mt Pleasant had two breakaways to make it 2-0 at half time.
On 55 mins a ball down the right found Harry Hughes free who squared the ball across the box for Callum Peacock to sweep home to make it 1-2
Soon after a long throwin by Jamie Good was met by the head of Cal Peacock only to see it rebound off the bar. On 70 mins Jack Bradburn was put through one on one and coolly slotted home under the keeper for the equaliser. There were chances to win the game for both teams in the last 10 mins, an in swinging corner by Kingsley Behan just cleared by their keeper, and a shout for a penalty when Josh Larkin looked like he had been fouled in the box. Jonathan Adams on his debut almost scoring after his shot was saved by the keeper. With 3 mins to go Mt Pleasant made it 3-2. With Eaglescliffe going out on attack the away side hit them with 3 more goals in injury time. The none stop commitment by all the team and hard work at the back by Matty Smith, Danny Jarps, Mikey Davies,Jamie Good and Bobby Cullen on his debut, made this scoreline flattering for the second division team. Man of the match for his excellent display went to Luke Miller.     Thank you for all the great support you gave the lads today.
