 Dads v Lads U15's 2009

On a fantastic day weatherwise for football the u15's of Eaglescliffe Elementis took on there dads in a dads v lads game . This yearly hotly contested fixture lived up to its billing . The game started at 100miles per hour both teams taking there part in a quality game . But the dads took the lead on 15 mins with a blistering left foot strike to the far corner from Matt Knaggs which left keeper Luke Miller rooted to his spot 1-0 to the dads . This never detered the lads they fought hard and played some very attractive football which was really nice to watch . But 10 mins later the dads were dealt a cruel blow when Andy (Jordans) dad had to go off with what seemed a torn hamstring and he was playing so well also . The dads reshuffled and hung on to go into a well earned interval 1-0 .  After the interval the lads quickly got back into the game with a very dubious penalty decision , up stepped Johnny Bullock to slot home and make it 1-1, now we have a game . The lads were thraughted time and time again by man of the match Ken Graham , Callum's dad who really did put in a shift . But the lads took the lead with an absolutely fantastic over head kick from Nathan Bayes , 2-1 to the lads , what a game now , The dads  were now piling on the pressure and forcing corner after corner , Matt Knaggs swung over a corner and Callum Peacocks dad unmarked from10 yards slotted home to make it 2-2 what a cracking match . 5 mins later Nathan Bayes got his 2nd of the match and the lads 3rd with a rather fortunate goal to put the lads 3-2 up , but this just spurred the dads on with some awesome midfield work from Simon ( Josh Rawsons ) dad and Lee ( Josh Larkins ) dad , a sweet move down the wing brought an equaliser and Stu's 2nd of the game for the dads 3-3 . This was fantastic stuff from both the lads and the dads . Another corner for the dads put in by Matt Knaggs knicked at the near post by Kingsley Behan's dad Shaun to put the dads 4-3 up and by now taking control of the game they seemed to have got a 2nd wind , Max Bakers dad Max and Harry Hughe's dad Andy working tirelessly up front . Another sweet move from the dads resulted in a precise pass from Ben Sutcliffe to split the lads defence wide open and put Matt Knaggs through to calmly finish and put the dads 5-3 up , but back came the lads again straight away and from a goal mouth scramble Danny Jarps hamered it home from 4 yards , now it was 5-4 and the dads were feeling it now LOL , but the best was yet to come and it was from the dads  , they broke through the lads defence again and a sweet 25 yard volley on the turn from hatrick hero Matt Knaggs had surely seeled the win for the dads now 6-4 up with only about 6-7 mins left . The lads pushed on and won another very dubious penalty which was a blatant dive from left back Matty Smith which should of resulted in a caution not a penalty , up stepped Danny Flaherty to take a nervy penalty the keeper got a hand on it but couldnt keep it out , 6-5 to the dads a very nervy last few mins were on the cards . But the dads held out for a very well earned victory and the bragging rights for another year.
