Eaglescliffe travelled to Wynyard Village on a cold but sunny day perfect for a game of football which has been few and far between this season. The away team started brightly and where looking to attack from the off, the initial pressure was soon to pay off. Lewis Nixon having done so good work challenging for the ball created a bit of space and struck the ball from just outside the box. It hit the bottom of the right hand post rebounded back out for Charlie Eggleston to slot the ball away 0-1.

Wynyard increased the pace of the game and put Eaglescliffe under constant pressure which resulted in a deserved equaliser after Eaglescliffe failed to clear the ball from the goal area 1-1. Wynyard again put Eaglescliffe under great pressure and where awarded a harsh penalty 2-1. Eaglescliffe allowed there heads to go down after the penalty and before the break Wynyard took full advantage from a great strike into the top corner 3-1.

A couple of changes where made in the second half and Eaglescliffe started competing for the ball again. Having got over the penalty decision they started playing some good football. With Curtis Bartholomew doing some good runs down the right wing. Lewis Nixon MOM was doing the same on the left where he continued on from his excellent showing in the first half in centre midfield. Despite all there efforts the ball just didn’t fall for Eaglesclife. Wynyard worked hard again and increased there lead 4-1, but this time the lads kept battling and tried to create chances well done. I would also like to say well done Luke Pettit who played at left back second half and made some very good and important challenges and stuck to his task superbly.
